Delivery does NOT translate into revenue

The USPS veiw of business is placed more heavily on delivery than it is on revenue generation. Just look at how much emphaisis they place on the getting out EVERY piece of first class each and every morning. It seems that window services are just a second thought to them. I wonder if it EVER occurs to them that without those aforementioned services there would be NO delivery worries, as there wouldn't be much to deliver.

NCR

Apparently this plan was in the works for a good while. Where was the Union? BTW, has ANYONE found this to be true?

" Designed to improve the management of customers, staff and processes, POS ONE enables the USPS to serve customers faster, provide better information about mail services and introduce new revenue-generating financial and retail services with ease. The solution has also delivered significant operational efficiencies and inventory control improvements. The NCR POS ONE software solution, together with NCR’s Teradata Data Warehouse, has enabled the USPS to expand access to postal services, optimize staffing, improve customer service, reduce fraud and improve post office efficiency and productivity."

A missed opportunity

I have often said the USPS does a horrendous job in marketing its non-mailable/retail products. Wittnes the Help Our Troops Call Home idea. I thought it was marvelous that the USPS would even offer such a service and yet, as usual, it was left up to the SSA's to spread the word. Why does the USPS even have a marketing department if it is not going to get the word out on something as wonderful as this idea? Just think of the great FREE publicity we could have gotten if they had just spent some money to spread the word for just one day's worth of radio ads or newspaper ads.

UBBM to the rescue?

Havning done UBBM countless times in a very busy station, there is some truth to the fact that there is very little samples left over. There are a good deal of coupons however that could be used and given to local charities to help fund the purchasing of items that would benefit those that are less fortunate.

Extended Hours

As many of you know the USPS has extended hours into the early evening. Many stations are now staying open until 7pm. This has put a strain on many a worker as management is told to realign bids (for the needs of the service), AND to continually do more with less. So instead of adding or creating bids many clerks had their hours changed on the whims of the USPS. What ticks me off the most is the APWU that did little in the way of at least being involved in this decision.
